Let’s be real: living with furbabies means accepting a little extra fluff in your life.

“Does your dog shed?” is usually the first thing people ask when they find out I have a dog.

Now, usually it is for one or two reasons.

Reason #1 - They genuinely want to know because they are researching what breed or type of dog they want to adopt - or

Reason #2 - They are questioning whether they will accept my invitation to visit my not-so-pet-free home.

Surprisingly, this is my number 1 flex of being a fur mom. My home is now undetectable that a canine cutie lives here.

Now, don’t get me wrong,

In my early twenties, while I was an undergrad, that was not the case! Over the years, I have figured out tips and tricks to live a cozy lifestyle without

hair and perfume de puppy au natural.

Now my favorite flex is that my house is cozy, smells like a 5-star hotel, and the fact that you can leave without Stell’s fur as a parting gift.

Let’s be real, more people would own dogs if they could easily just co-exist with their dog. In other words, people would prefer not to have pet hair,

and the scent of that lovely ball of hair taking over their senses and home;)

But, guess what?

You absolutely can coexist with your dog ! Who says that you can’t have an cozy, luxe, and stylish home while sharing it with your furry friends? With

a few modern solutions and a pinch of creativity, you can maintain a beautiful space without letting pet hair steal the show. Here’s how I keep things

chic and cozy with way less fluff .

first things first! Please oh please buy Pet-Friendly fabrics

Gone are the days when pet-friendly meant dull or unattractive. High-performance fabrics offers stylish options that resist stains and make cleaning

pet hair a breeze. Consider these pet-friendly materials:

  • Crypton Fabric: Known for its stain, odor, and moisture resistance, this fabric is perfect for upholstery in homes with pets.

  • Microfiber: This tightly woven fabric repels hair and is easy to clean, making it a popular choice for sofas and chairs.

  • Outdoor Fabrics: Often designed to withstand the elements, these fabrics are also pet-proof, with easy-to-clean surfaces and durable weaves.

Opt for sleek, neutral tones or playful patterns that hide fur while complementing your decor. Bonus: many of these materials are also water-resistant,

making them perfect for those inevitable accidents.

Invest in Pet Hair Management Tools

Keeping pet hair under control starts with having the right tools on hand. Think of these as your secret weapons:

  • Vacuum Cleaners for Pet Hair: Use models designed to tackle fur on floors and rugs effortlessly.

  • Hair Removal Accessories: Lint rollers and other hair-removing tools work wonders on upholstery and car seats.

  • Air Purifiers: Choose options with filters that trap pet dander and keep your air fresh.

Create a Cozy Pet-Friendly Zones (Trust me this is key!!!!)

Designate specific areas for your furbabies, like a cozy corner with their favorite bed or blanket. This not only gives them their own space to unwind

but also helps contain shedding to a manageable zone. Choose washable fabrics for bedding and place rugs or mats that are easy to clean in high-

traffic areas.

Use your Decor to Your Advantage

Strategic decor choices can make pet hair less noticeable while maintaining your home’s elegance:

  • Patterned Rugs and Throws: Patterns and textured fabrics can camouflage fur between cleanings.

  • Elevated Furniture: Choose furniture with taller legs to make vacuuming underneath easier.

  • Pet-Friendly Furniture Covers: Stylish, machine-washable covers protect your sofa and chairs without sacrificing aesthetics.

Find an amazing Groomer

Let me tell you. Finding an amazing groomer is key to keeping your home smelling great and keeping unwanted hair or fur around.

The less your dog sheds, the less hair you’ll need to clean.

I love our mobile groomer. I honestly consider that service to be on our top essentials list.

Since I purchased a de-shedding tool/ brush that collects dead hair, it has been a game-changer! Not only does it minimize shedding, but it’s also a

great back scratching… I mean a bonding activity for you and your pup.

Make sure you Stick to a Regular Cleaning Schedule

Consistency is your best friend when it comes to tackling pet hair. A simple routine can keep your home feeling fresh and fur-free:

  • Vacuum floors and furniture at least twice a week (or more if needed).

  • Wash pet bedding and throws regularly to prevent fur buildup.

  • Wipe down baseboards and furniture surfaces to catch stray hairs.

Add Some Style with Storage Solutions

Keep your cleaning tools chic and accessible by storing them in decorative baskets or cabinets. A stylish storage solution can make it easier to stay on

top of pet hair while blending seamlessly with your home’s aesthetic.

I personally love to put my cleaning home “freshening” items close.

Living with pets doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style.

With these modern solutions for pet hair, you can create a home that’s as cozy as it is aesthetic and stylish .

After all, your pet hair is a part of their charm. With a little effort, I promise you can co-exist with your dog and make your space pet-friendly, cozy,

and beautiful!
